You Won’t Believe What People Are Racing in Stevensville Montana!
Hold onto your fishing hats, folks! The most fin-tastic event of the winter is swimming back into the Bitterroot Valley. On February 1st, 2025, the Lonesome Dove bar in Stevensville will once again host the legendary Minnow Races. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just fishing for some fun, this is one event you don't want to miss!
What in the World Are Minnow Races?
Inspired by Montana's quirky ice fishing traditions, Minnow Races pit live minnows against each other in a race to the finish line. Picture this: 10-foot rain gutters filled with water serve as the racetracks. Participants select their champion minnow and, using only a straw to blow bubbles, encourage their tiny swimmer to victory. It's like the Kentucky Derby but with more gills and fewer hooves!
Event Details:
- Date: February 1st, 2025
- Location: Lonesome Dove Bar, Stevensville, MT
- Team Entry Fee: $30 per 2-person team
- Prizes: 100% cash payout to the swiftest minnows
- Sign-Up Deadline: Before 6 PM on race day

Even if you're not racing, come cheer on the competitors! With cameras broadcasting the action to big-screen TVs throughout the bar, you'll have a front-row seat to all the aquatic excitement. Plus, there will be a 50/50 drawing and raffles with fantastic prizes.

Trust me, as a person who has attended the last few races I can tell you that whether you're participating or spectating, it's a reel-y good time for all.
So, mark your calendars, gather your team, and get ready to dive into the most unique racing experience Montana has to offer. We can't wait to see you on February 1st at the Lonesome Dove!
