Adios Cathedral

I've been a fan of Cathedral since day one. 1993's The Ethereal Mirror is doom groovy and amazing and I became an instant fan (in fact, I still keep a few tracks from this record in my workout rotation). If you watched Headbanger's Ball back in the day, you might recognize this song:

Sadly all good things must come to an end, and so it is with Cathedral. Their final album, The Last Spire, hits stores/iTunes in late April. It's an amazing accomplishment considering all the record label drama over the years. In their 20-plus years, Cathedral has churned out a ton of material, so checking out allmusic.com's album reviews gives you an idea of where to start with these guys. The Ethereal Mirror is solid, and so is The Carnival Bizarre, which gave us this killer video:

I'm sad to see them go, but happy that I've got one more Cathedral record coming to my collection soon! This song isn't on the final album, but it represents their most recent teaser release. Enjoy in all its sludgy glory!
