Massive Bar Crawl Planned for Missoula on Saint Patrick’s Day

I learned a fun fact recently about Saint Patrick's Day. Okay, maybe it is NOT a FACT, but it makes sense to me.

I was told that Saint Patrick's Day is more of an American holiday, than an Irish holiday. Sure it is a day to celebrate Irish heritage, but it wasn't intended to be just a "kiss me I'm Irish" day.

So, the story I got goes like this. Irish Catholics in America were tired of not being able to drink during Lent. So they created a loophole where they could drink for at least one of the 40 days. (DISCLAIMER: This is not really how St Pat's Day was created, but you can't deny that it makes sense.)

Whether you are Catholic or Protestant, Jewish or even Hindu, Saint Patrick's Day is always a good reason to have an adult beverage or three.
