No matter the holiday, picking a good movie to watch is part of the celebration. It is like picking a fine wine to pair with your steak. Or, in this case, a green beer to go with your corned beef.

Whether you are getting ready to go to the pub, or are just the sober driver waiting to load up the "PADDY WAGON," the following are my picks of MUST WATCH MOVIES on St Patrick's Day.

1) Boondock Saints

Not only does this movie feature a scene showing a stereotypical St Patrick's Day celebration. (Which is one of my favorite scenes) But, it also follows two Irish-American brothers who take on the mob in full vigilante style.

2) The Departed

Directed by one of my favorite directors, Martin Scorsese, the same guy that brought you "Casino" and "Goodfellas." Except this story doesn't follow the classic Italian mob. The Departed is centered around the Irish mob that runs the underground in Boston.

3) SNATCH

This movie is another organized crime style movie. Except this one surrounds British organized crime. A movie that is directed by Guy Ritchie. The smae guy that brought you the movie "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels."  Even though the movie is predominantly British. It features one of Brad Pitts best performances as an Irish bare knuckle boxer.

Now, not all Irish related movies involve organized crime. i just prefer that movie genre. If you would like something that was more flattering for Irish heritage, then try watching "Far and Away" with Tom Cruise. It is a movie that was filmed partly here in Montana. Its story surrounds an Irish immigrant that moves to America is hopes of homesteading.
