The little red trailer has become a regular feature of the First Security Bank parking lot along US 93 in Hamilton before certain holidays. Soroptimist International of Hamilton sell See's candies before holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and, right now, Valentine's Day. The trailer is open Monday through Saturday with an assortment of chocolates in heart-shaped boxes, in regular boxes and other containers. They also are running a raffle for two sterling silver bracelets with a total 28 princess-cut sapphires from Mikesells Fine Jewelry. The club members put out a flag on the trailer to let passing motorists know when they are open for business.

What happens to the money you spend? Well, or course, some of it pays for the sweets and the rest is used for women's education scholarships and other projects. Soroptimists of Hamilton have supported Emma's House, Linda Massa Youth Home, S.A.F.E., Casting for Recovery, "Options" program, Literacy Bitterroot and awareness programs on domestic violence and human trafficking. They are part of a global volunteer network of women in over 130 countries who work to improve the lives of women and girls.

An upcoming event also deals with sweets. "An Evening Wrapped in Chocolate" will be March 24th. More details are coming.

If you'd like to join the women's organization, check their website at www.sihamilton.org. They also meet at noon on the first two Thursday of each month at BJ/s Restaurant in Hamilton and have evening socials on the fourth thursdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Edge.
