America’s Smallest Labor Day Parade is in Montana
It is a BIG PARTY in a SMALL town. How small? The town sign reads: Population 13 (and 1 squirrel). I'm talking about Checkerboard, MT. Which just so happens to be the home of the smallest Labor Day parade in America.
For the past 26 years, I have been travelling to central Montana to take part in one final Summer celebration. The Labor Day "Pot Luck" in Checkerboard, MT.
The annual parade consists of everything you need to make a proper Labor Day parade. An armed escort of the stars and stripes, a grand marshal and even the community fire truck. Toss in a couple creative floats, and you have one of the MOST PATRIOTIC processions you can see in any town BIG or SMALL.
What really makes the smallest parade in America so special to me, is the amount of patriotism. The parade features veterans from all over Montana, as well as a showing from the future U.S. Space Force. After 2 laps around the 1 gas pump in town, the parade ended with a heart warming rendition of the National Anthem. It is enough to make anyone scream "GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!"
