“spare production and tight, introspective lyrics” - NPR

“Fans can relate to Slug's deep, poetic, and personal lyrics while Ant's production is inventive and sparse. Together, the duo continues to obliterate the boundaries of how far indie hip-hop can truly go. (15 Of The Greatest Rapper-Producer Duos Of All Time)” – XXLMag.com

“…carries on the tradition of him (Slug) just doing it differently than most others playing the game…more restrained, less egotistical and more aware of his mortality … ‘Flicker’ sounds like the first rap song that’d sound fine as part of the soundtrack for a Wes Anderson movie. It’s things like that which show just how unique of a creative voice Atmosphere is in the contemporary world. Atmosphere is to indie rap what The Shins are to indie rock.” – PasteMagazine.com

“…back to the basic formula of Ant's intricate production and Slug's introspective lyricism…Ant's beats have rarely sounded as sophisticated as on opening track ‘Camera Thief,’ while one of the album's standout tracks, ‘Arthur's Song,’ harks back to the organ jive and classic-soul sound of early Atmosphere songs…” – MPR’s The Current

“… Slug is still Slug—frequenting the thought-provoking rhyme schemes he’s mastered over the years… another notable notch in the group’s belt.” –HipHopDX.com

“Slug’s brutally honest rhymes and penchant for colorful storytelling paired with Ant’s skillful mastery of the boards has connected with listeners ranging from the most ardent hip-hop head to the indie rock fan who barely acknowledged rap’s existence… ‘Southsiders’ follows Atmosphere’s progression as not just artists, but the men behind the music.” – TheBoomBox.com

“…hear a Slug that’s a little less angry but still no less invested in hip-hop, his hometown and the push to challenge his fans.” – OkayPlayer.com
