Brenda and Dave over at Altered Skin brought this beautiful rocking horse to our attention, in fact, Detail Dave even did a bit of work on it himself.

The pony is handcrafted by B+B Woodworking and Dave painted the red handprint, which has become the symbol of solidarity with missing and/or murdered Indigenous women and girls in North America. Proceeds from the raffle will be split equally between MMIW awareness groups at Confederated Salish & Kooteni Tribes and the Blackfeet Community College.

The rocking horse is hand carved out of maple plywood by a Montana Army Veteran artist. She's 36" long x 21" tall x 8" wide, so an heirloom rocking pony about 3 feet in length. She has buffalo nickel accents and a prayer for safe returns sewn into the saddle blanket. Little plaques on both sides of the pony are engraved with the words: MMIW - No More Stolen Sisters. And get this, the decking wood was recovered from the old Mercantile flooring. How cool is that!?

She is currently on display at KwaTaqNuk in Polson and will make her way south to Missoula, being displayed at different locations, including Bayern Brewing. Raffle tickets will be for sale at each pony stop, and also available now at Rockin' Rudy's, Bayern Brewing in Missoula, the T&C in Missoula, the Silver Dollar Bar in St. Igantius, and the Club Bar in Ronan. The runner up prize is a gorgeous, twin Pendleton blanket from Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply store. Pretty cool of them to pitch in!

Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please call Isabel at 529-8411, and let's give B+B Woodoworking a "Like" on Facebook for their amazing contribution to bringing awareness to Missing and/or Murdered Indigenous women of Montana and beyond.
