Being Bougie? Montana Has Elevated Taste for Valentines Sweets

It is Valentines Day tomorrow. And you probably forgot to get your sweetheart something nice. Didn't you? Well now the clock is ticking and you got to get something or risk sleeping on the couch. But, don't just rush out to the nearest drugstore and buy boxed chocolates and an over priced flower. You got to at least make it appear like you put some thought into it.

Thankfully, the folks at Zippia.com took most of the guesswork out of it for you. They crunched the numbers and looked at search data to calculate what Montana's favorite valentines day treat was.

Here is how Zippia came up with the answer

Using Google Trends, we determined what Valentine’s Day candy each state eats a disproportionate amount of. We defined Valentine’s Day candy as candies that peaked in search volume for the big day. From there, we determined what candy is searched a disproportionately, high amount in each state.

So, what is Montana's pick for Valentines Day sweets? 

Chocolate Truffles

Montana was only 1 of 5 states that preferred truffles over other treats.

The most popular treat was chocolate covered strawberries. 10 states in the US seem to prefer them over anything else.

Speaking of chocolate covered strawberries. They are really easy to make, if you would prefer to make something special for your valentine.

Here is how I do it.

1) use a double boiler, or just 2 sauce pans. Boil water in one sauce pan and place the other sauce pan on top of it.

2) dump an entire bag of chocolate chips in the top sauce pan and stir until smooth.

3) Place wax paper on a cookie sheet

4) One at a time, dip strawberries in chocolate and place  on cookie sheet.

5) Let cool and serve.
