
California Woman Pleads Guilty in Montana Smuggling Case
Looks like Californians are running out of ways to sneak into Montana. You can forget them buying all the real estate; now they are attempting to smuggle people into the Treasure State. A 53-year-old California woman just pled guilty after plotting to smuggle her British husband into the U.S. by bypassing the official port of entry near Eureka.

Instead of going through customs like a normal person, she parked on the Montana side as her husband attempted to hoof it across the Canadian border. The problem? The Mounties were waiting. Yes, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police cuffed him and stuffed him, which only goes to show that while Canadians might be polite, they’re not just going to let you casually walk across the border... Eh?
The Trunk Test Fails Again
Here’s the kicker: when U.S. officials questioned her about it, she confessed she was attempting the border equivalent of a family road trip gag. If I had a nickel for how many times I crossed state lines in the truck of a car, I would have a bunch of nickels... But sneaking through the backwoods of Montana with your husband sounds like a deleted scene from Dumb and Dumber.

Now she’s facing up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. That’s a lot to pay for a smuggling plan that couldn’t even survive Canadian politeness.
Californians Will Try Anything
If nothing else, this is proof that Californians will stoop to any level to get into Montana. Whether it’s overpriced cabins, overcrowded ski lifts, or dragging their British husbands over international borders, at least this time, it was an invasion that the Mounties put a stop to before the White House had to get ICE involved.
