Celebrate Pi Day (3/14) in Missoula

For those who love math and sweet treats, March 14th is a big holiday. Everyone from the casual math fan to professional mathematicians have been celebrating Pi Day for many years, but March 14th was officially designated as Pi Day in the U.S. in 2009. Never heard of it before? The Greek letter Pi represents a mathematical constant, the first three numbers are 3.14, thus, the 3/14 holiday. Did your kids ever have to memorize Pi in grade school? Ours did, and Oliver would walk around reciting dozens numbers of Pi in order, it was nuts!

Pi Day is typically celebrated in America by eating pie. Of course the hard core math fans also discuss math and do math, but most of us just use it as an excuse to eat pie. If don't like to do math or make pie, Bernice's has you covered, they'll bake for you and they won't even make you do algebra for it. 

On Sunday, March 14th, Bernice's will offer a wide variety of fresh made pies by the slice. Their "by-the-slice" feature was suspended due to the pandemic, but Pi Day will mark it's triumphant return, even if it's just for one day. Flavors will include fruit pies, cream pies, key lime, and their special White Russian Cream Pie, just to name a few. Their pumpkin pie is bomb, and my family also loves their strawberry rhubarb. Bernice's will also have an abundance of rustic pies in takeaway tins for those who are having Pi Day get togethers. If you wan to go all out with one of their big pies served in a glass plate, you will need to call at least 48 hours in advance, and remember the plate has a $10 deposit. Totally worth it.
