It was Griz/Cat Groundhog Day all over again, as the Montana defense suffered some epic fails on third down and forever.

A 71-yard touchdown run on third and 21 and keeping a long drive going by converting on third and 34 were only a couple of the painful plays that led to a 31-23 setback in Bozeman, as the Montana Grizzlies fell for the second year in a row to Montana State, once again ruining any hopes for a playoff game the Griz might have had. Those long runs helped the Bobcats rack up 322 yards running the ball and control the game clock.

Having to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns was another back-breaker for the Griz. Trailing 31-16 with 6:30 to play the Griz add a touchdown, get the ball back, show a lot of heart to move 50 yards down the field, but can get no closer than the 28.

Congratulations, Bobcats. You played a very good game. See you in Missoula next November. We owe ya.
