Did You Know Montana Deer Will Steal Your Hot Dogs?
Don't let the smoke fool you. Camping season is still in full swing. We just need to be aware of the stage 2 fire restrictions. Just because you won't be able to have a roaring campfire, doesn't mean you can't enjoy a night under the stars.
Living in bear country, it is crucial that we always be BEAR AWARE while camping.
According to the US Forest Service website
Everyone in bear country must do our part to store food and other attractants in bear-resistant containers at all times, and dispose of trash in bear-resistant dumpsters.
For anyone who has ever used bear resistant containers, they are practically human proof as well. But, much like Yogi, bears have a way of stealing your picnic basket if you leave it out. Bears will rob you off all your food and even items you wouldn't think of as edible
- toothpaste
- shampoo
- lotion
- soap
- cooking utensils
- empty cans
- wrappers
- coolers
- pet food
- bird seed
- garbage
Now it appears we have to worry about other culprits robbing your campsite. Not only do you have to diligently be BEAR AWARE, but now you have to be DEER AWARE.
These furry little criminals are not just herbivores. They have developed a taste for ground pork in casings. Otherwise known as hot dogs.
Footage of a deer stealing hot dogs has surfaced online, from a family camping in Montana. The deer seems to have no shame at all in swiping an already cooked hot dog straight off the grill.
Move over Joey Chestnut, this deer scarfs down hot dogs like a champ.
