Experience Big Sky Film Fest: In Theater or from Your Couch!
Hey, Missoula! It’s that magical time of year again when the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival takes over our city from February 14–23, 2025. This isn’t just a film festival—it’s the film festival, a chance to immerse yourself in incredible stories from all over the globe, right here in our backyard.
Sure, streaming at home is nice (more on that in a minute), but there’s nothing like watching a powerful documentary on the big screen, surrounded by other people who are just as invested in the story as you are. Then, just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, the filmmakers walk onto the stage for a live Q&A and blow your mind with behind-the-scenes details.

Festival Director Nick Davis puts it best: “This festival is a bucket list festival for many filmmakers.” And honestly, it’s easy to see why. The energy, the conversations, the community—it’s all here.
Why You Need to Go
Imagine sitting in the theater, popcorn in hand, as the lights dim and the opening credits roll. For the next hour or two, you’re transported into another world. Maybe you’ll laugh, maybe you’ll cry, maybe you’ll walk out with a totally new perspective. That’s the magic of this festival—it makes you feel. And with nearly 200 documentaries this year, there’s something for everyone.
Can’t Make It? No Problem
For the first time, the festival is offering virtual tickets for those who can’t attend in person. While nothing beats the theater experience, it’s a great way to be part of the action from home. So if life gets in the way—or you just really love your couch—you can still catch the incredible lineup of films.
Get Your Tickets Now
Whether you’re planning to go all in with a full festival pass or just want to catch a few screenings, now’s the time to grab your tickets. Trust me, this is one of those events that will leave you with stories to tell for years to come.
