A home on Grundy Lane, southeast of Hamilton, was completely gutted by fire Thursday morning, July 11. The Hamilton and Corvallis Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the fire, which was reported by a neighbor at about 5 a.m. No one was home at the time of the blaze.

Hamilton Fire Chief Brad Mohn said the staircase and the second floor of the home were on fire when crews arrived, preventing access to the upper interior. Hamilton and Corvallis firemen also encountered sawdust insulation in the older home as they fought the fire. He declared the home a total loss.
