I can't say that I know anything about timber sports events. Actually, as I'm looking at details of what's coming up this weekend, I think right now is the first time I've ever seen the term "timber sports event" so that pretty much proves my point. But I do know that I like slingin' blades at our friendly axe throwing facility in Missoula, Lookout Throwing Company. So if the rest of the timber sports are anything like axe throwing, count me in! And you can see for yourself as the timber sports competitions will make up one part of Forestry Day when it returns to Fort Missoula this weekend.

It returns after COVID cancellations

Like a lot of things, Forestry Day is making its return this year after being forced to not hold the event the last two years. But the celebration of those who work in logging, the competitions, the demonstrations, the food, and the fun, it all returns this weekend. Saturday, April 30th is filled with Forestry Day events from 9:30 AM to 4 PM. When it comes to the competition, it's billed as the only Pro/Amateur event in the Nation.

Forestry Day is family-oriented fun that includes competitors from all over North America competing in events that include:

  • Crosscut sawing
  • Wood chopping
  • Pole Climbing
  • Axe throwing
  • Log roling
  • Hot saws

Come for the timber sports events, stay for the beer garden!

You can check out antique logging equipment demonstrations, see a live antique lumber mill demonstration, and the Historical Museum's outdoor exhibits that will be opening for the season.

Food trucks will be onsite as well as a beer garden sponsored by Draught Works.

Here's what you need to know to join in the fun
