Fresh Snow June 8th in Bitterroot Mountains
In the upper atmosphere, the jet stream looped down south and a storm came in from up north, dowsing Montana with rain much of the weekend, but also colder temperatures. Monday morning, Bitterroot Valley folks woke up to visions of fresh snow up in both the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains on the sides of the valley. The highways at Lost Trail and Chief Joseph Passes at the south end of the valley also were surrounded by snow-covered trees (See photo below).
Forecasters are predicting warmer temperatures this week. However, on Monday night, a clearing sky could bring frost to the area. We're less than two weeks away from the first official day of summer - June 20. Where's my winter jacket?
