Gerber Recalls Teething Sticks in Montana Over Choking Risk
If your toddler is in the teething stage (a.k.a. the “put everything in mouth” stage), you may even want to keep an eye on your snacks. Gerber has recently issued a recall for their Soothe ‘N’ Chew Teething Sticks in response to reports of choking incidents. Yes, exactly the thing a teething stick shouldn't do.
What’s Going On?
Gerber took action after receiving complaints from parents that the sticks had broken into pieces and become a choking hazard. In at least one instance, a baby had to go to the ER. The recall impacts the strawberry apple and banana flavors and all batches sold right here in Montana.
What to Do if You Have the Recalled Product
Check your pantry for these:
- Strawberry Apple Flavor (UPC: 0 15000 04618 7)
- Banana Flavor (UPC: 0 15000 04608 8)
- Banana Flavored (Smaller Pack) (UPC: 0 15000 01015 7)
When you do find one, it’s time to say goodbye.
What Should You Do?
Stop Using Them: Simple enough. If your baby is holding one in their chubby little hands, it’s time for a snack swap.
Toss or Return: You can return the product to the store for a refund, or just toss it.
Health Concerns? If your kid has experienced any problems after consuming these, touch base with your pediatrician.
Protecting Our Little Montanans
Parenting is a rollercoaster as it is, we don’t need snack-time surprises as well! I was just reminiscing with my 12-year-old about how much I worried about him choking when he was going through the teething stage. Watch out for recalls, share the news with other parents and grandparents, and perhaps keep a backup teething toy (or 10) at hand.
