The annual 4th of July public fireworks display will happen, according to Hamilton Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf. The free evening display at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds will start at dusk (around 10 p.m.) Saturday, July 4th, Independence Day.

The public is invited to the fairgrounds, where Manager Melissa Saville said there will be plenty of room on the lawn south of the grandstands for families to gather - with social distancing in mind. She also said that food trucks will be available this year in the parking lot for those who'd like to purchase some food to go along with their fireworks. Of course, the display is visible from plenty of locations around the fairgrounds. A reminder, fireworks are expensive, and the City of Hamilton has a regular bank account that collects donations to pay for the "bombs bursting in air." If you'd like to donate, drop a check in the mail to City of Hamilton, 223 South 2nd Street, Hamilton MT 59840 and write "Fireworks" on the memo line. Or you can drop off your donation at City Hall during regular business hours.
