This past weekend saw the opening a a few more hunting seasons in Montana. Pheasant hunters loaded up the dogs and took to the field. Meanwhile I loaded up my little hunting buddy and made the trip to eastern Montana, in search of the fastest land mammal in North America.

Pronghorn antelope hunting has always been one of my favorite parts of fall. I always think of it as a pre-season warm up for general season which kicks off in less than 2 weeks.

This year I managed to get within range of a rather unique buck. My buck had some pretty interesting head gear, that resembled something you would use as a weapon in medieval times. But he wasn't the only buck that had some interesting looking hardware on his noggin.

The harvest turned out to be one for the books, as I got to share the experience with my 5 year old son. As you can tell from the photo, we are pretty pleased with the result of our hard work.
