The Missoula community is filled with vibrant and generous people. We get reminded of this when we do some of our promotions designed to help out our neighbors. Our annual "Guerilla Turkey Drive" and "KYSSMas for Kids" events show every year how much people care. This weekend there is an exciting event to help out some amazing local athletes. It is time for Missoula's "Griz Dip", part of the Special Olympics Polar Plunge series that takes place across the state.

Missoula Special Olympic Athletes Can Use Your Help

This is an opportunity to help out Missoula's Special Olympians as they compete across the state and the region. The next three years the Montana Special Olympic Summer Games are going to take place in Billings and that takes money and support.

Montana Athletes Travel A Lot

Athletes that compete in Montana are at a disadvantage compared to other states. One of the reasons is because our state is so large. It is expensive to travel to competitions. This upcoming fun event is a way to show support for these amazing athletes both financially and emotionally. Athletes, supporters and members of the Torch Run will be jumping into a big pool of  cold water at the Missoula Fairgrounds to raise money for Missoula Special Olympics.

The Forecast for the Griz Dip Will Be Mild

Normally the temperatures in Montana towards the end of February are a little more blustery. This Saturday's forecast for Missoula, according to the National Weather Service, looks to be sunny with a high of 45 degrees for the plunge. The Griz Dip will start at 11:00am at the Missoula Fairgrounds by the main South Avenue Entrance, across from the new Butterfly House.

There Is Still Time To Donate

There is still time to donate to the cause and you don't have to jump, unless you want to. A fun and easy way to donate in the past has been to purchase a bag of ice to help keep the pool chilled. With the forecast being so mild this year they. may need the ice to make sure this year it is actually a "Polar Plunge". Good luck to all the participants and I hope you all have fun this Saturday.
