Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 21, 2024, a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed a vehicle that varied its speed and swerved out of its lane. The deputy also observed the vehicle cross the yellow center line into the middle turn lane a few times. Every time the vehicle left its lane, it would rapidly jerk back into the correct lane.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop at Broadway and Palmer Street. The driver was identified as 39-year-old Titus Bryant and the deputy said he smelled alcohol. The deputy further observed multiple open containers in the vehicle, along with a case of Modelo and a Jack Daniel’s Party Pack in the back seat. The deputy also observed a marijuana pipe and dispensary containers in the vehicle.

The deputy determined that Bryant’s driver’s license status was suspended. He asked Bryant how much alcohol he had consumed. According to court documents, Bryant stated, “Too many.” Bryant further noted that he felt that he should not have been driving. During the conversation, Bryant slurred his words, had yellow eyes, and had watery eyes. Bryant later admitted he also consumed marijuana.

The deputy began the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, but noted Bryant had a prosthetic leg. Bryant scored six out of six clues of impairment on the HGN and three out of four clues of impairment on the One Leg Stand Test.

Bryant did not perform the Walk and Turn Test. Bryant was read the Preliminary Alcohol Screening Test Advisory and agreed to a preliminary breath test. The result was a 0.236 BrAC, which is three times the legal limit. Bryant was arrested and read the implied consent form. He consented to a blood draw, which was taken at St. Patrick’s Hospital.

While at the hospital, Bryant stated he lost his leg due to a prior DUI crash. Court documents indicate Bryant also minimized his actions, stating he would tell the Judge what he/she wanted to hear, and would get out of this no problem.

Bryant is currently being charged with felony DUI and driving with a suspended license. He has three prior DUI convictions. On April 22, 2024, Bryant made his initial appearance in Missoula Justice Court and his bond was set at $25,000.
