Tourist Caught Dangling Over Yellowstone Upper Falls for a Selfie
It seems that every year we say "WOW! There sure have been a lot of idiots through the park this year." But, like years past, this year will clearly be infested with "Tourons."
A "TOURON" is a tourist who doesn't have any common sense. A person who thinks that a National park is simply an adult playground. Like the drunk guy challenging the bull bison to a gentlemen's duel. Or even the famous biker chick who lost her pants in a standoff with bison in South Dakota. But, now the typical 'Touron' trying to snap a selfie, has joined the list of idiots who are visiting our national parks.
The 2024 season has barely got underway and we are already hearing about "tourons" living up to their name. Just in the first few days of the park being open, news is already spreading of a man who got attacked after kicking a bison. Now we have footage that surfaced online showing a person standing at the edge of a cliff looking over the Upper Falls of the Yellowstone River.
A park visitor named Lydia Toelle captured footage of another tourist climbing over a wall to get a picture of the falls. She submitted the photo to the popular Instagram/Facebook group "Tourons of Yellowstone."
What do you think? Is this year going to be particularly bad for tourons in YNP and other surrounding parks? Judging by the news early in the season, it is going to be a LONG Summer for park employees.
