Phone Threat Places Missoula Hospital on ‘Soft Lockdown’
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - At about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Missoula Community Medical Center was placed on what can be called ‘a soft lockdown’ after a threat was phoned into the hospital.
KGVO spoke to Missoula Police Department Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett just after noon on Wednesday.
“We were notified by Community Medical Center that their security had issued a lockdown,” began Bennett. “This was in regard to a threat that was made over the phone. At this time the investigation is being led by the Missoula Police Department. Community Medical Center is in control of their own lockdown and whether or not they will lift it.”
Bennett said the Missoula Community Medical Center’s own security personnel are in charge of whatever level of lockdown is in place.
“I was just stressing the fact that we didn't ask Community (Medical Center) to put on that lockdown; they initiated it, but we are investigating the threat.”
KGVO News has reached out to Missoula Community Medical Center’s Public Information Officer Megan Condra for more details of the incident and the hospital’s response.
When KGVO News left the scene, an MPD officer was communicating with several members of the hospital’s senior staff regarding the incident.
