Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 8, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., a Missoula Police Department officer was driving near the Claim Jumper Casino on Brooks Street. The officer observed a female in the parking lot who was identified as 66-year-old Beverly White. The officer recognized White from multiple previous interactions. The officer ran White’s name through the Mobile Data Terminal and learned that White had an arrestable warrant issued by a Missoula Municipal Court.

The officer approached White in the parking lot, confirmed her identity, and informed her that she was under arrest. The officer handcuffed White behind her back. Then the officer walked White to the patrol vehicle and conducted a search incident to arrest before placing White in the backseat.

The officer noted that White was in possession of a brown purse at the time of her arrest. The officer asked White if there was anything illegal in her purse, and White responded “yes.” The officer asked White for consent to search her purse, and White said no.

Searching for Clarity: The Purse Incident

The officer advised White of her Miranda rights, which White stated she understood. When asked about the contents of the purse, White stated it contained methadone that was not prescribed to her and a syringe. The officer seized White’s purse for the application of a search warrant.

While on scene, White began having a medical episode and was seen by MESI while still at the Claim Jumper Casino. Due to White feeling unwell, she was taken to St. Patrick’s Hospital before going to jail. Another officer took over custody of White and transported her to the hospital.

The officer applied for and was granted a search warrant for White’s purse by Judge Shane Vannatta. The officer executed the search warrant at 6:04 p.m. The following items were located in White’s purse:
