These 5 States Are Sending the Most People to Montana
For the past few years, people from all over the country have been packing up their belongings to start a new life in Montana. The number of incoming residents has been a thorn in the side of longtime locals who are afraid that newcomers are going to change their beloved state.
People that move to Montana from California seem to get the most pushback, but according to new data, California isn't sending the most people to Montana. In fact, Montana doesn't even rank in the top 25 for inbound moves. Stacker used data from the Census Bureau to find out which states are sending the most people to Montana, and the results are a bit surprising.
WHAT STATES ARE SENDING THE MOST PEOPLE TO MONTANA?
Stacker compiled a list of 25 states that have been sending people to Montana. New Mexico is at the bottom of the list, and only 582 people moved to Montana from the state in 2022.
As you make your way up to the number one spot on the list, you'll find states like Wisconsin, Ohio, and Missouri. California is near the top of the list, but it's not #1.
