Jupiter and Venus ‘Cuddle Up’ This Week
The two planets on the western horizon, visible after sunset, are getting closer and closer together in the sky.
The way their orbits are set up, Venus (the brighter planet) will pass by Jupiter this week. The "conjunction" will be best seen June 30 and July 1. They're very easy to see over the Bitterroot Mountains here in Hamilton.
The two planets will look like a double star as they pass each other.
Of course, the two planets are actually millions of miles apart, but from our perspective on Earth it's a fascinating dance to watch. The conjunction will happen again before dawn October 26.
And, get ready for some nice meteor showers this summer.
