Korn Guitarist Munky to Miss Tour Dates, Fill-In Guitarist Revealed [Update]
Update: Congrats are in order. Korn guitarist Munky has revealed the first photo of his new daughter Heart Hera Shaffer. Have a look below:
Korn are in the midst of one of the summer's top tours, playing dates with Alice in Chains, Underoath, Fever 333 and Ho99o9. But during this next week they'll be without the services of guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer.
Munky is stepping away from the group as he and his wife are awaiting the birth of their daughter, and he'll be out of action starting tomorrow (Aug. 6) through this coming Sunday (Aug. 11).
The guitarist writes, "Since our family is waiting any day now for the birth of our daughter, I won't be performing starting on Tuesday August 6th through Sunday August 11th. I'll be back in Detroit. I'm going to miss you all very much on those dates. But, you're in great hands with our close friend and brother @jrbareis95 who is filling in for me...and of course the rest of @korn_official who will carry the load." He closed his post, stating, "Thank you to all of our fans for your understanding and support! @evis_xheneti @dangelodraxon @imrockyrebel."
If the name JR Bareis seems familiar to you, it's because the musician has played alongside Brian "Head" Welch is his Love and Death band. Bareis first came to attention as a member of Islander and has also played with the band Spoken.
The stops that Bareis will be sitting in with the band include Wantagh (N.Y.), Holmdel (N.J.), Mansfield (Mass.), Hartford (Ct.) and Saratoga Springs (N.Y.). The current leg of the tour runs through Sept. 4 in Mountain View, Calif.
Korn are currently touring in support of their upcoming album, The Nothing, due Sept. 13. Get ticketing info here.
