Lamb of God's premonition of releasing a new album by Christmas may prove true as they'll be hitting the studio this spring and summer with a tour supporting Slayer sandwiched between the sessions.

When pressed for an update on Lamb of God, guitarist Mark Morton told The Metal Teddy Bear Experience, "We are writing too. We got a bunch of new material, a whole lot of new song ideas we’re sifting through. [We're] pretty far along in the songwriting process for the new album — not finished, but pretty far along," he said.

The tour with Slayer begins in May and then Lamb of God will be in Europe in June and July. "We’ll be in the studio before that and after that, so it’s cranking," Morton affirmed.

Sturm und Drang, Lamb of God's most recent album, was released in 2015. Since, the group put out The Duke EP in 2016 and recorded the Legion: XX covers album under their former name, Burn the Priest, for a 20th anniversary celebration. Morton just dropped Anesthetic, his first solo full length and Randy Blythe formed the band All Over It.
