Just when you think you've heard every demo and unreleased song Nirvana ever recorded, somebody discovers a long-lost track. In this case, it's an alternate version of "Marigold" featuring the notable addition of cello played by Kera Schaley.

Dave Grohl, who originally wrote the song for his 1992 solo project Pocketwatch, sings lead vocals on both this version and the one released as a B-side to "Heart Shaped Box" from In Utero in 1993. While Krist Novoselic plays bass on the song, it's been said that Kurt Cobain was absent while the pair recorded the song. Grohl, however, says Cobain sings a barely audible low harmony. The studio version was later included on the 2004 box set With the Lights Out.
