With Thanksgiving right around the corner, gas prices for travelers aren’t moving too much. Gasbuddy.com analyst Patrick DeHaan said Montanans might not see the big drops that are occurring nationally.

"Across Montana, prices are averaging $2.31," DeHaan said. "That's down a pretty measly penny in the last week. Meanwhile, the national average has gone down quite a bit more. There was about an eight-cent drop with the national average standing at $2.07."

DeHaan gave some insight on neighboring states and their gas prices for students driving home for the holidays.

"If you're heading to Washington or Idaho, it looks like some of your best bets, depending on, of course, where you're coming from, would be to fill up in Idaho," DeHaan said. "Prices there averaging about $2.17, while in Washington state, prices averaging $2.48. Looking at North and South Dakota, very similar."

Historically, gas prices in Montana are much lower than one year ago. DeHaan said this time last year, prices in the state were close to $2.93.
