Have you noticed the change that's taking place right next to Tremper's Shopping Center? They've been busy with construction and businesses are starting to open in the new buildings. Zootown Laundry is one of the new tenants. I've heard things about a brewery and restaurants that are in the works. And one of my favorite places in town has now opened the doors - Lookout Throwing Company!

You might be a little more familiar with them being known as Lumberjaxe Throwing Company. But along with the move from their old Toole Ave. location, the new name goes along with the new, and much bigger, facility.

A social media post outlines the story behind the name change:

"New digs, new name, same BADAXE axe throwing venues! When we originally created Lumberjaxe Throwing Co, we dreamed of taking this biz outside of Montana and if Covid taught us anything this year, it’s that our HOME will always be the 406. We’ve been grounded and humbled by the loyalty of Montanan’s this year and we owe this to you to stay right here and bring you the best axe throwing facility the state has to offer. We pioneered axe throwing venues in Montana, and we intend to keep YOU as the top reason we focus and remain here. Just like you, we’re locals and our love for Montana is unmatched to anywhere else.

Lookout Pass is a welcome to our state and that’s just what we strive for, to be a WELCOMING place for any and everyone. We can’t wait for you ALL to come and enjoy Lookout Throwing Co. We think you’re gonna love it!"

I stopped in to check out the new location yesterday - and it's pretty awesome! The first thing you'll notice is how much extra room there is. They've gone from a 1,900 sq ft building to one that's 4,200 sq ft - more than double the size! There's now 12 throwing lanes compared to the 8 in the old building. A couple flat screen tv's hang on the wall to show sporting events (or whatever you choose to watch if you rent the place out.) You can also test your accuracy on the dartboards to go along with your axe throwing. Other finishing touches that are on the way include a custom made shuffleboard table, couches for lounging, and more.

They're open for business and can follow social distancing guidelines by allowing an empty bay to be open between throwers.

Walk-ins are welcome but it's suggested you book ahead. To make a reservation, purchase gift cards, or rent the space for an event,  visit Lookout Throwing Company at their website.

If you've thrown axes with them before, you're going to LOVE the new building. If you haven't tried axe throwing yet, you have to check it out! As Lookout Throwing Company says, "get your axe down here." The new location is at 1210 W. Kent, Suite 105.
