Megadeth Frontman Dave Mustaine Releases App for Guitarists
Even with decent guitar tablature, it’s sometimes hard to nail a complex Megadeth riff because some knowledge can only be gained from the source. That’s why Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has joined forces with the makers of Rock Prodigy to help teach fans how to play Megadeth songs.
Available on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch for $9.99, ‘Dave Mustaine: Guitar Prodigy’ features Megadeth’s frontman and his pro guitar team coaching fans through multiple lessons. The interactive app includes master tracks from songs including ‘Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,’ ‘Tornado of Souls’ and ‘Public Enemy No. 1,’ and recognizes each note played then provides feedback on the player’s performance.
“If you have a guitar, if you can run an app, you will soon be playing classic Megadeth songs,” states Mustaine. “I personally reviewed all of these songs, so no more bunk transcriptions and bad tabs; it’s just like having a private guitar lesson from me. Also, with my app, you can actually slow the parts down to make sure they are perfect.”
‘Dave Mustaine: Guitar Prodigy’ also features progressive, bite-sized ‘Micro Lessons’ created by Mustaine to cover areas like rhythm, technique and theory. The app comes with multiple skill levels, from beginner to advanced, and sports a leaderboard to show off high scores.
