Mike Patton is a man of many talents, fronting hugely different bands like Faith No More and Dead Cross. For the unaware, he's also composed several film soundtracks, and is adding a new one to his discography in Stephen King's 1922.

According to a press-release, "1922 is based on Stephen King's 131-page storytelling of a man's confession of his wife's murder. The tale is told from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story's unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him."

The soundtrack is Patton's first film work since his score for 2013's well-received The Place Beyond the Pines. Given what we can hear from the trailer, the soundtrack seems to be a haunting, off-kilter work completely appropriate for a Stephen King movie. An expanded score will be coming out in 2018 via Ipecac Recordings.

Patton has been spending the rest of his time touring with punk supergroup Dead Cross. Just a month ago, we caught them playing an uproarious show in New York City, bringing their aggro-hardcore to life.

In an interview with Full Metal Jackie, Patton hopes Dead Cross will release 'a few more records,' and that Faith No More is on an extended break. He said, "if something happens, it'll happen organically and naturally but I kind of don't think it will. I kind of feel like we've tipped the scales a little bit, but we'll see, who knows? I've learned my lesson not to say "No."
