Good people doing good things for a good cause in the Missoula community.

Now, that's not to say things won't get, shall we say, competitive out there on the ice. And if you would like to support a number of our area firefighters who are joining forces to help a cancer victim and his family, we got an ice-hot Saturday night event for you.

Members of the Missoula City Fire Department and members of Wildlands Firefighters will be getting after each other in the 10th annual spirited and highly competitive Fire on Ice hockey games fundraiser this Saturday, February 5. There are two games and the puck drops for the first one at 6:00 p.m. at Missoula's Glacier Ice Rink.

Yes, the games themselves are competitive and entertaining, but the mission is heartfelt and rewarding. This year the firefighters hope you team up with them to bring encouragement and financial support to "Jack's Army." All proceeds will go to "Jack" and his family's battle against cancer.

There is no admission charge to Fire on Ice, so bring as many friends and family members as you can with you. The night's fundraising efforts will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle tickets and "chuck-a-puck."

Here's to a lot of fun this Saturday night at the Glacier Ice Rink. It promises to be just that, and it's a chance for you to rally around some local heroes in the firefighting profession and help support a great community cause. That's a pretty terrific combination!
