The last year has been full of ups and downs. It's definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions. Oh, I guess there's also been all that stuff happening with COVID, but I'm talking about the journey that's finally come to an end with the new Firehouse Subs opening their doors in Missoula. I officially broke out my happy dance this week when I found out that they're open for business!

The anticipation builds

It was about a year ago when we saw that Firehouse would be part of the plans for the space that used to be the Fuddruckers on Reserve. I started to see the construction earlier this year and figured Firehouse would be open sometime in the early summer. But things seemed to slow down a bit and I started to wonder what the holdup was. As you can see from the picture below, it was as recently as early September that it looked like they weren't anywhere close to a finished product.

Things really kicked into gear!

Well, here we are just five weeks later and the new Firehouse Subs is pumping out delicious sandwiches! I saw some employees in the store the other day when I was driving past. The sign out front said "opening soon" so I figured they were doing some training. Yesterday I decided to call the store and see if they would tell me what day they would open. When I searched for the phone number online I saw there were already a couple of reviews that were left just a few hours earlier in the day. Sure enough, the person that answered my call told me they had opened on October 9!

Hello, my old friend

I've been pretty pumped about the new location because Firehouse was one of my favorite places to eat when I lived in Florida. It's definitely my first choice when it comes to grabbing a sandwich. After hearing they were open, it didn't take long until we were out the door and headed to check it out! I was giddy as I took in the delicious scent of familiar favorites!

Firehouse does great work behind the scenes

Firehouse has a pretty cool backstory. It was founded by brothers Chris and Robin, former firefighters, and the company is always donating money to first responders.

At Firehouse Subs, subs are only part of our story. A portion of your purchase in 2021 at all US Firehouse Subs locations goes to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, to be used to provide lifesaving equipment to first responders.

Since the Foundation started, it has granted over $62.5 million to provide equipment, training, and support to hometown heroes.

Let the grubbing begin!

If you've never been to Firehouse Subs, you'll have to make a couple of visits to do some sampling and figure out what your favorite will be. But if you need a suggestion to get you started, you can't go wrong with the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket!
