Missoula Police Say Man Smashed Glass Against Head, Strangled Girlfriend in Bathroom
On Saturday, December 30, Missoula Police responded to a complaint from a roommate who reported an ongoing fight in his bathroom on South Second Street.
"The caller reported that the other two occupants of the apartment were having some kind of physical disturbance in the bathroom," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "Officers entered and made contact with the two coming out of the bathroom: The male was identified as Skylar Camel Nowlen, 22-years of age, and he was arrested for Strangulation of a Partner or Family Member."
Large cuts can be seen on the left side of Camel Nowlen's face in his booking photo. Welsh says the injuries appear to have been self-inflicted.
"According to the victim, she said at one point when they were in the bathroom, Mr. Camel Nowlen smashed a glass against his head causing a laceration above his left eyebrow," Welsh said. "At the time when officers got there he was actually cleaning up the blood from his wound and it did not appear to need any more medical attention."
On top of the felony strangulation charge, Nowlen also faces a misdemeanor charge for taking away the woman's cellphone when she tried to call for help.
