At about 3 a.m. Sunday morning, September 29, the Missoula Fire Department was called out to a blaze that started in the first level of the city parking garage. According to Missoula Fire Department Fire Marshall Gordy Hughes, the fire was an arson.

"From all indications in the investigation, this fire was intentionally set. The perpetrator had brought in outside material, ignited them, and threw them in the back seat of the car. We got some video footage of an individual entering the vehicle and then shortly after the backseat is seen glowing."

Another incident occurred in a recycling bin just a while before the car was set on fire. It is unclear if the two incidents are related.

"About an hour before, there was a dumpster fire reported in the 200 block of North Higgins, that was also exterminated by the fire department," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "They are very close together proximity-wise and occurred about an hour apart from each other."

Anyone with information about these incidents is advised to call Missoula Police Sgt. J.C. Denton at (406) 552.6305 or Missoula Fire Department at (406) 552-6210.
