The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 19 new felony criminal complaints this week. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, eight of those cases involved some form of violence.

“One of those was a strangulation that also involved a partner or family member assault and two counts of assault with a weapon,” Pabst said. “In that case, the victim was allegedly threatened with a knife and a box cutter. There was one case in which the defendant allegedly threatened his sister with a knife. Another case involved the incident downtown involving the four juveniles that were allegedly assaulted by a woman. There were three felonies included in that and one misdemeanor.”

Pabst said there was also one assault on a peace officer case.

“The defendant was allegedly yelling and creating a ruckus in his neighborhood, told another neighbor he was going to harm him, swung a piece of pipe at the neighbor, and nearly missed his knee,” Pabst said. “When he was apprehended, he allegedly kicked the officer in the groin.”

One of the more unique cases this week involved a fire in a recreational vehicle.

“We charged an arson cases,” Pabst said. “In that case, the defendant allegedly started a fire in an RV after he had been keeping his belongings in there and someone had taken his belongings. Unfortunately, the fire spread to the roof of a nearby adjacent hotel.”

They charged two criminal endangerment cases as well. One involved a robbery and the other involved a felony DUI.

There were also four new theft cases and two new drug cases. Finally, a man was charged after he allegedly threatened to kill several members of law enforcement.
