A Montana-based company is celebrating a pretty big accomplishment. And when I say a big accomplishment, I'm talking about a Guinness World Record-sized accomplishment. Montana Silversmiths in Columbus, MT manufactures high-quality western belt buckles and jewelry. One look at their social media page and you can see the craftsmanship that goes into each piece of jewelry they produce as well as each buckle that makes its way to a rodeo winner or beauty queen across the country. Not only can Montana Silversmiths say they make some impressive buckles, but they've also made the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world's largest belt buckle.

Is Paul Bunyan looking for a new buckle?

The mammoth fashion piece was created here in Montana to help celebrate the company's 50th anniversary next year. It then made its way to Montana Silversmiths' Dallas showroom. It was shipped in four pieces before being assembled and measured to see if it would indeed be verified by Guinness. Once assembled, a UPI article says the replica of the company's most popular buckles measured 10 feet and 6 inches tall and 14 feet and 6.4 inches wide. Another article from WFAA-TV says the finished product weighs 1,000 pounds and had to be authentic to earn the record. In this case, "authentic" meant someone could theoretically wear the buckle if somebody that size existed. And by all means, feel free to insert your own "yo momma so big she can wear the Guinness World Record belt buckle created by Montana Silversmiths" joke here!

Maybe the giant belt buckle will make its way to Missoula

It sounds like the novelty piece will end up back in Montana when it's all said and done but not before it makes its way around the country in a touring attraction. Wouldn't it be pretty cool to see it show up at a place like the Western Montana Fair? Maybe we could also bring in the Guinness World Record for the largest farm tractor that also happens to call Montana home.
