Two Renaissance Fairs Are Coming To Montana
Somewhere after branding calves and fighting about wolves on Facebook, Montana decided we also needed jousting. And a reason to dress up like a knight.
This summer, we have not one but two Renaissance fairs. That means chainmail in 85-degree weather. Grown men yelling “Huzzah!” in public. And me, gleefully strolling around with a turkey leg the size of your arm.
Montana Renaissance Festival – Billings
Montana Renaissance Festival, June 6th and 7th, 2026, in Billings.
Expect full medieval chaos. Knights. Sword fighting. Royal courts. Vendors selling things you definitely don’t need but will buy anyway because you’ve had mead and now think you’re a blacksmith.
There will be live performances, armored combat, costumes galore, and at least one guy who has trained for this moment his entire life.

Missoula Renaissance Fair
The Missoula Renaissance Fair, September 19th and 20th, 2026, in Missoula.
Same energy. Different zip code.
You’ll get live music, performers, vendors, food, and a crew that ranges from families with strollers to fully committed LARPers who did not “throw this together last minute.” These people have lore. And once again, I will be there for two things: turkey legs and mead. Maybe three if someone hands me a sword and poor judgment takes over.

Montana Redneck Meets Medieval
There’s something beautiful about seeing a guy who showed up in camo Crocs transform into Sir Greg of the Bitterroot. We already wear leather. We already carry knives. We already argue about territory. Medieval Montana honestly feels like a documentary.
So yes. I will lightly roast some of the adults in chainmail. But I will also stand in line with them for roasted meat and honey wine like it’s my birthright. Because if we’re going to do summer in Montana, we might as well add a little plague-era flair.
Huzzah, I guess.
