Montana Teachers Meet in Missoula -Google Trains Missoula Teachers [YouTube]
Thousands of Montana schoolteachers will be in Missoula Thursday and Friday for the annual MEA-MFT educational conference.
An estimated 2,500 to 3,000 teachers and administrators are expected at the conference at Sentinel High School.
MCPS Communications Director Hatton Littman said the conference will offer teachers access to a variety of subjects.
"They range from technology to instruction to health enhancement," Littman said. "Teachers from around the state apply to present their topics, and then the MEA-MFT puts the conference together every year. There will also be Active Resistance Training offered to some teachers, the kind of training Missoula teachers have been receiving for more than a year."
But, before the conference gets underway, Littman said Google will host a special event for 75 Missoula teachers and the community on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Missoula Children's Theater.
"Earlier this year, Google identified Missoula as one of six cities in the country that have been selected for a 'Put Your City on the Map' campaign," she said. "We were able to contact Google, and let them know we were a 'Google Apps' district, and we'd really love Google to give back to our community, and luckily they thought that was a great idea, so they're training 75 of our teachers on Wednesday night."
Littman said there will be many events that the public will enjoy, there may even be a change in the appearance of the Missoula Children's Theater itself.
"I'm getting word that the Missoula Children's Theater is actually going to get 'wrapped' in Google, physically, so you might notice a change in the building itself," she said.
The event will run from 3 till 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
