Montana’s Favorite Truck Faces Recall – Here’s Why
It seems Montana’s favorite truck, the Ford F-150, has gotten itself into a couple of different messes. Ford has issued a few recalls for models, notably our F-150 darlings. So let’s dig into what’s happening and what it means for us all in Montana
What’s Going On Now?
Ford already has several F-150s that are being recalled, and really, at this point, it’s starting to feel like a habit. If you have one, here’s what you need to know:
Engine Problems (And Not the Good Type): Certain 2021-2022 F-150s with 2.7L or 3.0L engines may have cracking intake valves. And if that happens, you might lose engine power while driving down I-90. Not fun.

Trailer breaks: If you have a trailer, make sure to take a break and look at your brakes. Certain F-150s from 2021-2022 have an electronic trailer brake controller that fails to remember to apply the brakes themselves. Also, NOT FUN!
F-150 Lightning Battery Fires: If you are among the fortunate few who afford a 2024 F-150 Lightning, you may want to be careful. A short circuit in the battery could create a fire risk. Ford’s advice? You should not be able to charge it above 80% until they address it.” (Because nothing says peace of mind like “just don’t charge it too much.”)
So, What Should You Do?
Check Your VIN: Visit Ford’s recall page and enter the VIN for your vehicle to determine whether your truck belongs to the affected vehicles.
Call Your Dealer: If you own an affected F-150, your dealership will fix the truck at no cost to you.
Hey, recalls aren’t great, but better than ending up parked in a ditch? So, if you have an F-150 on this list, be sure to get it serviced, and in the meantime, maybe steer clear of cross-country driving with a camper in tow.
