Nerds Rejoice: MisCon 39 Is Coming This Summer 2025
There are a couple of sacred traditions in Missoula. Float the river. Watch the Griz. And once a year, round up the nerd herd and indulge in a no-holds-barred celebration of sci-fi, fantasy, and fandom. Yup, MisCon 39 is returning this Summer.
Write it down: June 20–23, 2025, at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. It’s our yearly cosplay, gaming, panel-filled long weekend, one filled with more inside jokes and obscure references than a casual fan can handle at high altitude.
And this year’s theme? “Hive of Scum and Villainy.” You know, like that shady back-alley cantina from Star Wars, except with more Mountain Dew and less chance of a bounty hunter gunning you down.
Nathan Maberry, the man who created V-Wars, wrote some X-Files books, and you likely own a big pile of horror and science fiction resting on your bookshelf. They also landed Casey Renee Cosplay, who’s the Bob Ross of sewing, but with more foam and fabric glue. And if that name drop isn’t enough for you, Doug Hemphill will also be joining the fun. He won an Oscar for Dune. So if you see a guy posting about how to mic up a sandworm, it’s likely him.
There’ll be tabletop games. There’ll be panels. There’ll be LARPing. There’s always that one dude in a costume as Deadpool photo-bombing everyone’s selfie. (You know who you are.)
MisCon is not just for the diehards. If you have ever watched a Marvel movie, read a comic book or played D&D one time in high school, welcome home. It’s coming soon, it’s fun, and it’s one of the best things Missoula does all year.
So brush off that cape, charge up that lightsaber, and start planning your costume now. I'm leaning towards dressing up as a shaved wookie. The force is strong in me.
