Nikki Sixx recently revealed that he was planning to wind down his long-running radio show Sixx Sense at the end of the year, but fans shouldn't jump to the conclusion that his band Sixx: A.M. will be the immediate thing in Nikki's life that jumps to the top of his "to-do" list. During a chat with comedian Dean Delray in a social media book signing, Sixx opened up about his future and the fact that for the first time in a while, it appears to be wide open.

"I'm gonna be leaving [radio] and I'm gonna start focusing on television and programming. I'm working on developing some TV shows right now," revealed Sixx, who added, "And maybe doing a one-man kind of tour. It's something I'd be interested in doing. I got a little taste of that ... Vince [Neil] would ask me to go onstage and say a few words during the show to give him a rest or to get some water or something, and it turned into being, like, fifteen minutes. And I'd be, like, 'I hate this,' and the guys in Motley were, like, 'Man, the fans love it.' And I started thinking, maybe this is something I can go out and, not like stand-up, 'cause I don't think it'd be comedy, but it would be like talking about my life [with] a lot of funny stories."

He went on to address his band situation, explaining, "[There are] no tour plans for Sixx: A.M. James [Michael] and DJ [Ashba] and me talked at the beginning of this year, and I think that the idea of Sixx: A.M. being a side project has been just the way it's been, and we went out and started focusing on it being a main project. And I think DJ has a bunch of stuff he wants to do musically, and he has this media company that he focuses on that he does really good at. And James is a producer and a songwriter."

Sixx: A.M. had a monster year in 2016 after the dissolution of Motley Crue. Sixx and his cohorts released a pair of albums - Prayers for the Damned, Vol. 1 and Prayers for the Blessed, Vol. 2 - and did the most extensive touring of the band's career. However, at the end of touring, Sixx had surgery for both a hip replacement and on his rotator cuff and made the comment that he was "unofficially retired" from touring.

So with the three members of the band doing their own things, Sixx states, "Right now is the first time where I'm actually not in a band, and I'm not gonna have radio, and as of Jan. 1, I don't have a job. Like, what's gonna happen with this brain with all that free time?"

While Sixx mentions free time, he might not be too free, especially with his TV projects, the possibility of his one-man show and the looming stage production for The Heroin Diaries book. Still, it appears to be an exciting time for one of rock's more creative and engaging musicians. Sixx, who also is a photographer and a painter, also discussed the desire to possibly write another book or doing a podcast, but added that he's excited about having a clean slate and plugging things in as he wishes.
