Nikki Sixx: ‘No Chance’ of Another Motley Crue Record
This time a year ago, Nikki Sixx was in the home stretch of Motley Crue's final tour. This year, the rocker is celebrating Sixx: A.M. releasing two albums in a calendar year along with extensive touring, and the bassist insists that Motley Crue are in the rearview mirror.
Though there had been some talk of Motley Crue doing more recording down the road even though their touring career is officially behind them, Sixx says he's happy leaving things right where they're at. "Nothing," insists Sixx when pressed about Motley's future by Team Rock, adding, "No chance of another record. I want to just leave it intact. I see no reason. We couldn't be creative as a band, so how the hell can we continue? But I'm glad the way it finished -- we did it all, we did what we said we were going to do, and now I'm excited about the future."
Sixx says as soon as Motley Crue played their final show, he was ready to move. He adds, "It doesn't mean I don't love the band, it just means that I've already said my goodbyes." And now his focus is on Sixx: A.M. fully, while letting that band build its following separate of the Crue.
“The last thing we wanna do is live off old glories,” Sixx says. “For me, the carcass of Motley Crüe is dead. It’s lying in the field, the flesh is rotting and I don’t wanna feed off that. I invite Motley Crüe fans in to Sixx:A.M. but I’m not gonna poach them. Our new fans, they know about Motley, but it’s not their band, and that’s okay.”
As stated, Sixx: A.M. have been quite creative over the past year, issuing Prayers for the Damned, Vol. 1 and Prayers for the Blessed, Vol. 2 during the 2016 calendar year. And the group, who were often a studio-only band early in their career, has embraced the concert experience. See where they're playing here.
