Missoula Fitness Center Plans $3M Expansion to Add Pickleball Court
Missoula is about to up its pickleball game in a big way.
Oh, you don't know what pickleball is? Don't worry - here's a helpful YouTube video to explain it to you.
Now that you know all about pickleball, you'll be able to more fully appreciate the news we're about to tell you.
Missoula's Peak Health & Wellness Center is Adding a Pickleball Court
According to the Missoulian, Missoula's Peak Health and Wellness Center is planning a major expansion to the tune of about $3 million - and it seems like the main reason for the expansion is because they wanted to add a pickleball court.
They're not stopping there, either - the new space will include room for pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts, plus a new sports performance training center. The expansion will supposedly include six pickleball courts.
This has apparently been in the works for a while - discussions about a pickleball-related expansion have been going on since 2018, and they had planned to begin work in 2020... but then, you know, a pandemic happened.
So it's underway now! And they're hoping to have the entire project finished by the end of the year, with an expected end date of December 2022.
Are You an Avid Pickleball Player?
I've never really played pickleball, but I know it's been on the rise for the past few years. Representatives from the Peak Health and Wellness Center say that their pickleball timeslots are always booked almost immediately.
So why has pickleball become so popular? My theory: it's a very fun word to say. Maybe the game is fun too, who knows? But I've written the word "pickleball" like 20 times in this article alone just because it's fun, so that's got to count for something.
