Pearl Jam’s Anti-Gun Twist on Nugent Song After Montana Show
OH, MAN! Talk about a slap in the face. Ted Nugent is one of the biggest gun rights advocates out there. Pearl Jam chose to protest gun violence by taking one of Ted's hit songs and turning it into an anti-gun protest.
Pearl Jam is continuing its politically charged tour across the country. The Dark Matter tour kicked off here in Montana just last month. During the Missoula performance, the band expressed their views on many topics. Most of the attention went to the re-election of our current senator Jon Tester.
Jeff Ament gave a heartfelt speech about his pal Jon during the show in Missoula on 8/22.
Montana has always had a large gun culture. Montana is one of the top states in the country for gun ownership. When it comes to guns, Montanans will recite the 2nd Amendment from memory. Just like rocker Ted Nugent. That guy is a tough one to debate when it comes to gun ownership.
At Pearl Jam's recent performance in Maryland, the band covered Nugent's "Stranglehold." Eddie changed the lyrics of the song slightly to say something along the lines of "Never had a gun, never own a gun, never buy a gun."
Nugent responded to the performance on social media by inviting Eddie Vedder to his podcast.
hey Eddie join me on my RAV spirit campfire to discuss how your insane liberal policies have created an explosion in engineered violent recidivism while you fight to disarm helpless innocent citizens
I always love it when Uncle Ted uses BIG words. I cannot wait for this debate to happen.
