Just before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Missoula Police Officers responded to the 1800 block of Stephens for the report of a disturbance involving a firearm.  Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The officers were informed that a shot had been fired from a handgun,” Welsh said. “The Officers made contact with two males who both described the same suspect that was no longer on the scene.  The male depicted in the two photographs is reported to have smashed the complainant's windshield with the skate board he is seen carrying.  The victim said he approached the suspect accompanied by a witness in an adjacent parking lot. He reported the suspect produced a revolver and fired a shot as he left the area.  There were no injuries as a result.”

According to Welsh, the complainants provided officers with a description of the suspect.

“The suspect is described as a white male on a mountain bike with a blue frame and a "dingy" white/grey cross bar,” Welsh said. “He was carrying a green & white long board and a yellow backpack/bag.  The suspect is described further as being between 25 - 35 years of age, tall & skinny with long brown hair and a long beard.   He was said to be wearing a charcoal grey bicycle helmet.”

If you recognize the yellow bag the suspect is carrying and can potentially assist in identifying this man, or have information about this incident, please contact Detective Mick McCarthy at (406) 552-6643.
