‘Ride for Dime’ Plans First East Coast Benefit in Late August
The Ride for Dime event has done very well in keeping the spirit of late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell alive while also raising money for charity. And while the event has taken place at a number of locations over the years, it's yet to make its way to the East Coast ... that is until this year. Organizers have just announced the inaugural East Coast Ride for Dime event.
The very first Ride for Dime East Coast tri-state event will be held Saturday, Aug. 26 at New Jersey's Starland Ballroom, with those in attendance being treated to a great day of music and various auctions.
Ride for Dime will feature several guest hosts, including comedian Don Jamieson, heavy metal personalities and reality stars Adam Poch, Jennifer "Jenncity" Arroyo and Natalie Jansen, alt-model and TV personality Marilyn Mansfield and radio personality Mistress Juliya!
The concert portion of the festivities will be lead by Thy Will Be Done and the very first performance of Silvertomb. Frost Coalition (featuring members of Danzig and Savatage), Black Water Rising, Ikillya, Alekhine's Gun, Hammerfight, Lethal Affection, Negative Sky, Common Wealth, Throwdown Syndicate, Kalopsia, Whiskey Time Machine, Palaceburn, Apparition and Enigma Machine will also be part of the concert.
Meanwhile, fans can also expect an all-star jam featuring John DeServio (Black Label Society), Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Danzig, A Pale Horse Named Death), Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet), Marc Rizzo (Soulfly), Stickman (Fury of Five), Mike Lepond (Symphony X) John Outcalt (God Forbid), Corey Pierce (God Forbid), Jack Frost (Savatage, Seven Witches, Lizzy Borden), Ken Dubman (Prophet), Jennifer "Jenncity" Arroyo (Kittie, Suicide City), Alan Tecchio (Seven Witches, Watchtower, Hades), Jay Waterman (Thy Will Be Done), and more.
Ride for Dime organizer and God Forbid drummer Corey Pierce says, "I feel honored to be surrounded by talented and caring people who love music and who loved Darryl as a musician, but also loved what he stood for throughout his life. This event is a step in strengthening the metal family while showing our admiration and respect for one of metals greatest legends and I am so happy to be a part of it."
Alekhine's Gun frontwoman and Orange Is the New Black star Jessica Pimentel says, "We are honored to be a part of this wonderful evening - so much so that we broke our hiatus to participate in raising money and awareness for these great charities, especially MusiCares who helped us out after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy ruined our music equipment and studio. We look forward to enjoying all the bands and fans and having a great time. Getcha' pull for Dimebag Darrell!"
Former Type O Negative and current Danzig drummer Johnny Kelly adds, "I'm really looking forward to taking part in the upcoming Ride for Dime show! I've had the privilege of playing at other RFD shows in the past, but getting to do it in my hometown will be even more fun! It's all for a good cause and I'm always happy to be a part of anything that helps preserve Dime's legacy."
Black Label Society bassist John DeServio comments, "I'm honored to be involved in the Ride for Dime this year! Dime impacted the world, and it's up to us to keep his memory alive. God bless The Dimebag. He was definitely one of a kind."
As for the auction, you can look for gift certificates, merch items and more donated from the likes of Hatebreed, All That Remains, Lamb of God and more going on the block. Tickets are available now at this location, while you can also look into VIP packages here. The VIP packages include admission to a special pre-party being held at Dingbatz. Proceeds from the Ride for Dime will go to MusiCares and Marines Care.
